Carol Coventry
I was born at Mt. Pleasant in the Adelaide Hills and loved painting from an early age. In 1979 I began taking art classes and started painting full time in 1980, working mainly on animal portraits, old buildings and landscapes.
Since then I have studied continuously, working in oils, acrylics, watercolours and pastels.
Ten years ago I was introduced to the vibrancy of pastels, which has renewed my passion for land and seascapes and has allowed me to capture the beauty and drama of the Australian landscapes as I have long wanted to do.
With my husband, Ray, I have travelled extensively in our 4WD, exploring many remote locations in search of that perfect scene.
In 2007 I moved to Goolwa to be close to the sand hills and the Coorong, two subjects that I particularly love to paint.
I am past President and current member of the Pastel Artists of South Australia. I have been a member of Off the Slate Gallery in Willunga since 2007 and I exhibit regularly at the Porter Street Wildlife Gallery and the Regional Gallery in Goolwa.
Over the years I have been fortunate enough to win many awards and to be exhibited in Rotary art shows and galleries around the state.
